Job Description

A steel fabricator and erector serving the East Bay and Northern California is hiring an Estimator to price structural and miscellaneous steel packages, from fabrication through erection, on light commercial, residential, and industrial projects.

Day to day:

• Assemble competitive bids and proposals for light commercial, residential, and industrial projects
• Perform takeoffs and estimates for structural and miscellaneous steel fabrication and erection
• Examine plans and specs for scope gaps, exclusions, and value-engineering opportunities
• Work alongside project managers, the shop, and field crews on constructability and handoff
• Obtain and compare quotes for detailing, erection, coatings, and freight

Background:

• Steel estimating experience in fabrication and erection
• Comfortable reading blueprints
• Knowledge of structural and miscellaneous metals packages
• Plus: Tekla EPM, SDS2, or similar estimating software
