Senior Project Manager – Structural Steel

A well-established structural steel fabricator and erector is seeking a Senior Project Manager to support and lead projects across the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast regions. This role is ideal for a driven professional who can manage multiple projects, coordinate across teams, and ensure seamless execution from detailing through erection and closeout.

As a Senior Project Manager, you will play a key role within the project management team, overseeing all phases of structural steel projects while maintaining strong relationships with clients, erectors, and internal teams. This position offers flexibility in location, with options to work from regional offices or remotely for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead structural steel projects from kickoff through closeout
  • Coordinate with detailers to monitor drawing progress and ensure accuracy
  • Identify, request, and follow up on required information from architects and engineers
  • Schedule and oversee fabrication, delivery, and erection activities
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and other trades
  • Perform field measurements and support jobsite execution
  • Resolve jobsite challenges and maintain project momentum
  • Manage change orders including pricing, negotiation, and execution
  • Collaborate with accounting on job costing, forecasting, and financial tracking
  • Issue closeout documentation and ensure project completion requirements are met
  • Build and maintain strong client and erector relationships
  • Travel to project sites as needed to support execution

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of project management experience with a structural steel fabricator/erector
  • OR 3+ years of experience with a degree in Architecture, Construction Management, or Civil/Structural Engineering
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings
  • Strong coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience managing multiple stakeholders across fabrication and field operations
  • Willingness to travel to job sites as needed

Technical / Industry Expectations

  • Working knowledge of structural steel project workflows from detailing through erection
  • Understanding of shop drawing processes and coordination with engineering teams
  • Familiarity with field operations, sequencing, and erection practices
  • Ability to manage project schedules, logistics, and subcontractor coordination
  • Strong grasp of cost tracking and change order management

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary: $95,000 – $130,000 (DOE)
