Salary: $110,000-$165,000 + quarterly bonus

A growing regional business law firm with offices across the Southwest is hiring an insurance defense associate in Houston to defend transportation and trucking matters for businesses, individuals, and insurers.

Responsibilities

• Defend auto, tractor-trailer, bus, crane, dump truck, and wrongful death claims
• Investigate accidents, analyze evidence, assess liability, and build defense strategy
• Draft pleadings, motions, and discovery
• Prepare for and attend depositions, hearings, mediations, and trials
• Communicate with clients, carriers, opposing counsel, and the court

Requirements

• J.D. and licensed with the State Bar of Texas
• Minimum 3 years of litigation or insurance defense experience
• Strong research, writing, and negotiation skills
• Able to work independently and as part of a team; willing to travel as needed

Compensation and benefits

• Base salary $110,000-$165,000, based on years of experience and bar admission date
• Quarterly bonus plan tied to billables, with the potential to earn up to $52,000 more per year
• Health, dental, and vision starting the first of the month after hire

• 10 holidays plus 4 early-release days

Work arrangement

Hybrid: 3 days in office, 2 days from home.
