Multifamily Truss Design Manager Summary:
A growing truss manufacturing company seeks a Truss Design Manager to lead design operations and ensure high-quality production of floor and roof trusses. This full-time, office-based role collaborates with sales, production, estimating, and dispatch teams, reporting directly to the President/CEO.
Responsibilities:
Manage internal and external truss design workflows to meet sales and production goals.
Support Sales with estimating and technical design alignment.
Oversee field and customer support for truss compatibility and engineering issues.
Coordinate with Production and Dispatch to optimize manufacturing efficiency and shipping logistics.
Partner with software providers to streamline design and production processes.
Lead, coach, and develop a team of designers and support staff.
Monitor department workflow, performance, and quality standards.
Maintain a strong focus on material and labor efficiency in designs.
Perform additional duties as needed.
Required Skills and Experience:
5+ years of truss design experience; 2+ years in a design leadership role.
Proficiency with MiTek design software (Sapphire/Engineering).
Strong leadership, coaching, and team management skills.
Ability to manage deadlines, resolve conflicts, and maintain quality standards.
Knowledge of multifamily construction preferred.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Comfortable working with measurements, calculations, and construction drawings.
Education:
High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit, stand, walk, use hands, and lift up to 50 pounds.
Visual requirements include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
