Job Title: Diesel Technician – Heavy-Duty Fleet Maintenance
Our client, a well-established and forward-thinking fleet operation, is seeking a skilled Diesel Technician to join their growing team. The Diesel Technician will diagnose, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on a diverse fleet to ensure it meets DOT and company safety standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background, work well independently, and thrive in a collaborative, safety-first environment.
This is a full-time role offering excellent benefits, a modernized shop, and a strong team culture in the Greater Cedar Rapids area.
Key Responsibilities:
Diagnose and repair diesel trucks and related equipment (engine, chassis, hydraulics, electrical, etc.)
Use onboard systems and diagnostic tools to troubleshoot issues
Perform preventive maintenance inspections (PMIs) in line with DOT standards
Work with drivers to identify issues and complete accurate, timely repairs
Estimate labor and parts costs; requisition and install replacement parts
Respond to service calls and complete on-site repairs as needed
Maintain clean work areas and adhere to OSHA and company safety standards
Interpret technical documents and service manuals
Support company goals for quality, safety, and customer service
Qualifications:
3+ years of diesel truck repair experience
Proficient in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diagnostic systems
Welding experience is a plus, not required
Must have own tools and valid driver’s license
Highly organized, self-driven, and safety-focused
Strong communication, problem-solving, and multitasking abilities
Schedule & Work Conditions:
Full-time, benefit-eligible position
Hours: Monday–Friday, 7:00am–5:30pm; occasional Saturdays
Non-exempt (eligible for overtime pay)
Physically demanding role; exposure to noise, fluids, and all weather conditions
Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs and operate tools/equipment safely
