Job Description

If you know how to price steel from the shop floor to the jobsite, this Estimator opening with a fabricator and erector serving the East Bay and Northern California is worth a look. The focus is structural and miscellaneous steel packages, fabrication and erection, on light commercial, residential, and industrial projects.

Key responsibilities:

• Review plans and specifications to uncover scope gaps, exclusions, and value-engineering opportunities
• Solicit and evaluate quotes for detailing, erection, coatings, and freight
• Produce estimates and quantity takeoffs for structural and miscellaneous steel fabrication and erection
• Coordinate constructability and handoff with project managers, the shop, and field crews
• Build competitive bids and proposals for light commercial, residential, and industrial work

Qualifications:

• Solid blueprint reading skills
• Familiarity with structural and miscellaneous metals packages
• A steel estimating background that includes fabrication and erection
• Plus: experience in Tekla EPM, SDS2, or comparable estimating software
