Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced attorney with approximately 5–12+ years of civil litigation experience to join a growing Labor & Employment practice. Labor and employment experience is preferred but not required. This role is ideal for an attorney looking to take the next step in their career by handling sophisticated litigation matters, working directly with clients, mentoring junior attorneys, and developing strong client relationships.
The ideal candidate is a confident litigator with strong writing and advocacy skills, sound judgment, and the ability to take ownership of complex matters from inception through resolution. This position offers meaningful opportunities for leadership, professional development, mentorship, and practice growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Represent clients in civil litigation and labor & employment matters
- Manage matters through all phases of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, motion practice, depositions, trial preparation, and appeals
- Conduct legal research and provide practical legal advice to clients
- Advise clients on employment and personnel-related issues
- Take ownership of significant portions of litigation matters and work collaboratively with junior attorneys
- Draft and review pleadings, motions, briefs, legal memoranda, and other legal documents
- Take and defend depositions and represent clients at hearings and other proceedings
- Assist with trial preparation and participate in trials when appropriate
- Mentor and support the professional development of junior attorneys
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships
- Participate in practice development and client development initiatives
Qualifications
- Approximately 5–12+ years of civil litigation experience
- Labor and employment experience is preferred but not required
- Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills
- Experience managing litigation matters from inception through resolution
- Trial experience is a plus
- Ability to manage complex matters, prioritize assignments, and bring projects to completion
- Strong judgment, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail
- Interest in mentoring and developing junior attorneys
- Strong interpersonal and client relationship skills
- Entrepreneurial mindset and interest in contributing to practice and client development
- J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school preferred
- Active California bar license in good standing
