Lead Thermoforming Machine Operator / Supervisor Needed
We are seeking an experienced, highly skilled Lead Thermoforming Machine Operator to take ownership of our thermoforming operations. This role is critical to ensuring efficient machine setups, timely changeovers, and resolving process issues without supervision. You will lead by example, support the production team, and ensure the machines run at peak performance while maintaining the highest quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform complex changeovers on Brown, Lyle, TSL, and other thermoforming machines independently and efficiently to minimize downtime.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve machine issues related to forming processes, tooling, heaters, and controls.
- Operate and monitor thermoforming equipment throughout production runs, ensuring consistent output quality and adherence to specifications.
- Lead and mentor other machine operators, providing hands-on guidance and training to improve team performance.
- Maintain and clean molds, plugs, and tooling; ensure all equipment is properly maintained and ready for operation.
- Utilize thickness gauges, micrometers, and other precision measurement tools to verify product quality and adjust machine settings as needed.
- Collaborate with production, maintenance, and quality teams to implement continuous improvements and resolve production challenges.
- Enforce compliance with all safety, quality, and operational standards, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Document machine settings, production parameters, and maintenance activities accurately.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of direct experience operating and troubleshooting thermoforming machines, including Brown, Lyle, or TSL equipment.
- Proven expertise in performing changeovers and running forming machines without assistance.
- Strong understanding of tooling, extrusion, material flow, and machining practices related to thermoforming.
- Hands-on leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, with the ability to train and guide others.
- Solid mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to quality, safety, and teamwork.
- Experience with plastics processing and extrusion highly preferred.
