Job Description

Florida West Coast Nursery & Horticulture Company

We are looking for a highly organized, dependable, and motivated Assistant to the General Manager to join our growing nursery and horticulture operation on Florida’s West Coast.

This is primarily an office-based position, but the ideal candidate must also be comfortable stepping outside the office and working throughout the nursery when needed. This role is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys a fast-paced environment, can wear multiple hats, and wants to be involved in both the administrative and operational sides of the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the General Manager with daily administrative and operational needs
  • Manage and track customer and company orders
  • Assist with processing orders from start to finish
  • Communicate with customers, vendors, and internal team members
  • Assist with billing, invoicing, and related administrative tasks
  • Support various HR-related duties, including employee documentation and administrative processes
  • Maintain accurate records and organize important company information
  • Help coordinate day-to-day operations and follow up on outstanding items
  • Assist with nursery-related tasks and projects as needed
  • Other administrative and operational responsibilities as assigned

 What We’re Looking For

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Strong communication and follow-through skills
  • Comfortable multitasking and managing competing priorities
  • Proficient with computers, email, and Microsoft Office/Google Workspace
  • Previous experience in office administration, operations, order processing, HR, billing, or a related field is a plus
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and QuickBooks
  • Ability to work independently while also being a team player
  • Professional, dependable, and willing to jump in wherever needed
  • All candidates being considered must currently reside the greater Sarasota/Bradenton area and have a valid U.S. driver's license

Important: Although this is primarily an office position, a successful candidate will be required to visit the nursery and occasionally perform tasks outside the office. The nursery and greenhouse environment can be hot, humid, and physically demanding, so candidates should be comfortable working in such conditions when necessary.

If you are organized, adaptable, hands-on, and looking for an opportunity to become an important part of a growing horticulture business that offers room for advancement, we’d love to hear from you.

Apply by submitting a current resume and optional cover letter. Only those with a resume provided who meet the qualifications will be contacted for consideration.
