Tax Senior

Location: Detroit, MI

Overview

A large national accounting and advisory firm is seeking a Tax Senior for its core tax services group in Detroit. You will apply foundational tax knowledge and research skills, participate in planning, prepare tax accrual workpapers and returns, and may supervise and review the work of associates.

Responsibilities

• Ensure clients comply with applicable authorities while minimizing tax and reporting burdens
• Plan the tax process and coordinate engagements with preparers
• Conduct detailed reviews of returns, raise potential issues and identify book-to-tax differences
• Frame and research tax issues and report the analysis clearly
• Prepare ASC 740 provision workpapers and footnote disclosures and identify uncertain positions
• Support consulting projects aimed at reducing clients’ tax liability
• Document significant tax positions in memos
• Supervise, give feedback to and mentor associates

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Statistics (or other field with CPA eligibility)
• Master's in Accountancy or Taxation preferred
• 2+ years of relevant tax or public accounting experience preferred
• Prior basic supervisory experience preferred
