Vice President of Operations – Structural Steel Construction
Location: Maryland – On-Site
Base Salary: Up to $160,000
Total Compensation Potential: $300,000+ including bonuses, incentives, and additional perks
Housing: Long-term housing provided by the company
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Vice President of Operations to lead and oversee the company’s structural steel construction operations in Maryland. This is a high-level executive position for an accomplished construction leader with a strong background in structural steel fabrication and erection.
The ideal candidate will have proven executive-level experience managing operations, people, projects, and financial performance within the structural steel industry. This individual will play a key role in driving operational efficiency, project execution, profitability, and continued company growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide executive leadership and direction across structural steel operations
- Oversee project management, field operations, fabrication, scheduling, and production
- Lead and develop project managers, superintendents, and operational teams
- Monitor project performance, profitability, budgets, and schedules
- Establish and improve operational processes and procedures
- Work closely with ownership and senior leadership on strategic initiatives
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, general contractors, and project partners
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity, margins, and overall company performance
- Assist with estimating, project turnover, manpower planning, and resource allocation
- Ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with contractual requirements
Ideal Candidate
- Executive-level leadership experience within structural steel construction
- Strong background in structural steel fabrication and/or erection
- Proven experience overseeing multiple projects and operational teams
- Strong understanding of project financials, scheduling, estimating, and production
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop large teams
- Strong client and contractor relationship management skills
- Entrepreneurial, hands-on leadership mentality
- Ability to work on-site in Maryland
