Associate Attorney – Toxic Tort Litigation | California

A premier national litigation firm is looking to add a Toxic Tort Associate Attorney to its California team. This is an outstanding opportunity for a defense litigator who wants to transition into a specialized and highly sophisticated practice area.

No prior toxic tort experience is required. The firm is interested in attorneys with a strong defense litigation background who are eager to learn and develop a practice focused on toxic tort matters.

The position offers a hybrid work arrangement with 2 days per week in the office.

  • Develop expertise in toxic tort and complex civil litigation

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned litigation matters and case deadlines
  • Represent clients on local and national accounts throughout California
  • Conduct and defend depositions
  • Prepare witnesses for depositions, hearings, and trial
  • Review, analyze, and respond to discovery
  • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and other litigation documents
  • Conduct legal research and prepare written analysis
  • Prepare and electronically file court documents
  • Assist with trial strategy, preparation, and support
  • Communicate effectively with opposing counsel and other parties
  • Maintain accurate and timely billing and case records

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of defense litigation experience
  • Active license to practice law in California
  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Demonstrated experience with depositions and motion practice
  • Experience taking plaintiff and/or expert depositions
  • Strong legal research and writing abilities
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
  • Strong interest in developing a career in toxic tort litigation

Toxic tort experience is not required. A solid foundation in defense litigation and a willingness to learn are what matter most.
