A well-established recycling company is seeking a dependable, self-motivated Maintenance Technician to help maintain and repair the equipment that keeps our recycling operation running safely and efficiently. This position is responsible for preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on a wide variety of industrial equipment, vehicles, and facility systems. Key Responsibilities
Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on recycling equipment, vehicles, and facility machinery.
Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic issues.
Repair and maintain: Three industrial balers (two horizontal balers and one two-ram baler), Two industrial shredders, Thirteen forklifts, Skid steer loaders, Company truck fleet, including bobtails, roll-off trucks, and tractor-trailers, Approximately 100 dry van trailers.
Perform routine inspections to identify maintenance needs before equipment failures occur.
Complete minor welding and fabrication repairs as needed.
Replace bearings, belts, chains, hoses, cylinders, motors, and other mechanical components.
Assist with hydraulic system troubleshooting and repairs.
Assist with electrical troubleshooting and repairs when qualified.
Maintain shop tools and equipment in a clean and organized condition.
Keep accurate maintenance records and report equipment issues to management.
Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns to minimize downtime.
Maintain a clean, safe work environment and follow all company safety policies.
Required Qualifications
Experience in industrial maintenance, heavy equipment repair, diesel mechanics, or a related field.
Strong mechanical aptitude with excellent troubleshooting skills.
Comfortable using a wide variety of hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and shop equipment.
Working knowledge of: Hydraulics, Industrial mechanical systems, Welding, Electrical troubleshooting, Preventative maintenance practices
Ability to read equipment manuals, schematics, and repair documentation.
Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
Strong work ethic with a high level of initiative and reliability.
Commitment to workplace safety.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in recycling, manufacturing, industrial processing, or heavy equipment maintenance.
Forklift maintenance experience.
CDL or experience working on commercial trucks is a plus.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus, but not required.
Welding certifications or electrical certifications are a plus.
Physical Requirements
Frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb ladders, kneel, and work in confined spaces.
Ability to work around industrial machinery in varying temperatures and conditions.
Must be able to safely operate maintenance equipment and tools.
