We are seeking detail-oriented Bag Making Machine Operator responsible for the setup and operation of the automated bagging machine, while monitoring the production schedule and verifying that the correct bags, secondary labeling, and materials packaged are correct. The ideal candidate is a driven team player with strong communication skills and an understanding of cGMP and 7S.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review job orders to determine any special specifications and quantities to be produced.
- Operator goes and picks up web roll and other necessary materials to prepare for machine setup.
- Load web roll and thread through the machine, input specific parameters into the control panel.
- Set up ink jet printer
- Set side and bottom gusset tubing machine up, inputting specific parameters into the control panel.
- Adjust, position / change out heat seal bar/bars and forming guide per specific requirements.
- Set up zipper and patch tape roll if required.
- Check punch dies for function and accuracy, changing out the die if needed
- Check cutting / slitting blades change out if needed.
- Print label and place on packing box
- Startup machine observe operation and make adjustments to machine, parts as needed to ensure proper speed, pressure, temperature.
- Quality check - gather first piece sample and use tools to check bag for seal strength, size, defects.
- Quality Decision - Operator makes judgement call for acceptable bag, if not operator alerts the supervisor with issue.
- Upon completion of the job card, prepare for next job order.
- Change out edge trim rolls as needed.
- Monitor machine parts for wear, report issue to supervisor to ensure spare part is available for change out.
- Maintain PMs on bag making machine and other equipment as needed using hand tools.
- Change or replace all necessary parts, before the next run.
- Complete Production lot report and shift report
- Educate and Instruct bag packer
- Maintain the 7S standard during your shift.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate Degree or Technical Degree or certification preferred
- 5+ years of manufacturing experience – preferrable food based
- 5+ years of experience with Totani, B&B, or Hudson Sharp Machinery
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and moderate climbing up to 10 feet
