Litigation Associate, NY Defense (3+ years) - Buffalo, NY (Hybrid)
I'm working with a collaborative, forward-thinking law firm seeking a Litigation Associate with 3+ years of experience to join its New York defense practice in Buffalo. This hybrid role offers a significant part in complex matters, ideal for a litigator with meaningful courtroom experience, sound judgment and the drive to work both independently and as part of a team. Compensation is $100,000 to $150,000 annually.
What you'll do:
- Handle all phases of New York defense litigation, including discovery, motion practice and trial preparation
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, and legal memoranda
- Conduct legal research and prepare comprehensive reports and analyses
- Participate in and lead court conferences, depositions, hearings and trial proceedings
- Manage case strategy and deadlines in line with client and carrier guidelines
- Maintain accurate time and billing records
What you'll bring:
- 3+ years of litigation experience, preferably in a law firm setting
- Defense experience in areas such as insurance defense, professional liability, product liability, labor law, premises liability, motor vehicle accidents or general liability (experience in all areas not required)
- Admission to practice in New York
- Strong legal writing, research, analytical and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple matters and meet deadlines consistently
- Trial, federal court or appellate experience is a plus
