About the Role
We are seeking a driven and analytical Lumber Trader to manage the buying and selling of lumber and wood products across North America. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and enjoys building relationships, negotiating deals, and capitalizing on market opportunities.
The Lumber Trader will be responsible for sourcing material, managing customer accounts, monitoring market conditions, and executing profitable trades while working closely with mills, wholesalers, distributors, and building material suppliers.

Key Responsibilities
- Buy and sell dimensional lumber, plywood, OSB, engineered wood products, and related building materials
- Develop and maintain relationships with mills, wholesalers, distributors, dealers, and contractors
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and supply agreements to maximize profitability
- Monitor lumber pricing, housing starts, freight costs, and market trends
- Identify new business opportunities and expand existing customer relationships
- Manage inventory exposure and trading risk
- Coordinate logistics and delivery schedules with transportation partners
- Maintain accurate CRM records, pricing sheets, and sales forecasts
Qualifications
- Previous experience in lumber trading, building materials sales, commodity trading, wholesale distribution, or a related industry preferred
- Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a remote environment
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM software
