Job Description

 Traveling Construction Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all on-site construction activities for commercial, industrial, healthcare, education, multifamily, or tilt-wall projects across multiple geographic locations. This role ensures projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contract documents, quality standards, and company expectations. Extensive travel is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all daily field operations from project startup through final closeout.
  • Supervise subcontractors, field personnel, and vendors to ensure productivity, quality, and safety.
  • Develop and maintain short-term and long-term project schedules in coordination with the Project Manager.
  • Coordinate project logistics, material deliveries, equipment, and manpower.
  • Interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project documents.
  • Conduct daily site inspections to ensure compliance with company quality standards and contract requirements.
  • Lead weekly subcontractor coordination meetings and daily safety meetings.
  • Enforce OSHA regulations and company safety policies to maintain a safe jobsite.
  • Identify and resolve field issues, design conflicts, and schedule impacts.
  • Maintain accurate daily reports, progress updates, punch lists, and project documentation.
  • Coordinate inspections with local authorities and ensure successful completion of all required inspections.
  • Manage project turnover, commissioning support, and closeout documentation.
  • Foster positive relationships with owners, architects, engineers, inspectors, and subcontractors.
  • Travel extensively to projects throughout assigned regions and relocate temporarily as project needs require.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of commercial construction superintendent experience, including ground-up construction.
  • Experience managing projects valued from $10 million to $100+ million preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple subcontractors and maintain aggressive project schedules.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, sequencing, and building systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and shop drawings.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and construction management software such as Procore, Autodesk Build, Bluebeam, or Primavera P6.
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to travel 75–100%.
