Employment Law Attorney (Education Sector)
Location: Concord (Hybrid or Remote) SF/Bay area residents
Compensation: $130,000 – $200,000+ DOE
A well-regarded law firm serving clients in the education space is seeking an Employment Law Attorney with 1–10 years of experience to join its growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a civil litigation attorney interested in transitioning into employment law, particularly within a mission-driven and dynamic sector.
About the Role
This position focuses on advising and defending educational institutions—including school districts, charter schools, and private institutions—on a wide range of employment-related matters. The firm offers a collaborative environment with meaningful client interaction and strong mentorship opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Handle employment law matters defending cities, school districts, community colleges and universities
- Defend clients in administrative proceedings and civil litigation
- Draft motions, pleadings, and other legal documents
- Manage discovery, including written discovery and depositions
- Provide day-to-day counseling to clients on employment issues and risk mitigation
- Participate in mediations, hearings, and trial preparation
Qualifications
- 1–10 years of legal experience
- Civil litigation defense experience strongly preferred (employment law experience not required)
- Strong writing, research, and analytical skills
- Experience with law and motion, discovery, and depositions is a plus
- California Bar admission required
