Position: Insurance Defense Attorney
Location: Irvine, CA or San Diego, CA (Hybrid or Fully Remote Available)

Insurance Defense Attorney

Our client, a well-established and growing law firm, is seeking an Insurance Defense Attorney with 1+ year of civil litigation experience to join their California team. This is a great opportunity for an attorney looking to build their litigation practice in a supportive environment with flexibility and strong case exposure.

The ideal candidate will have prior civil litigation experience, either plaintiff or defense side, and be comfortable handling matters involving discovery, motion practice, and case management. Insurance defense experience is a plus, but not required. Attorneys should be proactive, organized, and able to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

This role offers the flexibility of a hybrid schedule or fully remote work, depending on experience and performance.

Responsibilities:

• Handle civil litigation matters from inception through resolution
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, and legal correspondence
• Conduct legal research and assist with case strategy and evaluations
• Take and defend depositions as experience grows
• Attend court appearances, mediations, and depositions (as needed)
• Communicate with clients, carriers, opposing counsel, and experts
• Support trial preparation and ongoing litigation strategy

Qualifications:

• J.D. from an accredited law school
• Active California Bar license and good standing required
• 1+ year of civil litigation experience (plaintiff or defense)
• Strong writing, research, and analytical skills
• Exposure to discovery, motion practice, and depositions preferred
• Ability to work independently and manage competing deadlines
• Insurance defense experience is a plus but not required
