Position Overview
A well-established law firm is seeking a Labor & Employment Associate Attorney with 3+ years of experience to represent employers in a variety of labor and employment matters, including wage and hour disputes, PAGA claims, class actions, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wrongful termination matters. The ideal candidate will have strong litigation experience, excellent writing skills, and the ability to independently manage cases from inception through resolution.
Key Responsibilities
- Represent employers in labor and employment litigation matters in state and federal courts.
- Manage cases through all phases of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, depositions, motions, mediation, and trial preparation.
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery responses, briefs, and legal memoranda.
- Conduct and defend depositions and prepare witnesses for testimony.
- Develop litigation strategies and provide practical labor and employment guidance to clients.
- Participate in mediations, settlement negotiations, and court appearances.
- Communicate directly with clients and provide strategic legal advice.
Qualifications
- J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school preferred.
- Active membership in the CA State Bar.
- 3+ years experience preferred.
- Experience representing employers in wage and hour, PAGA, class action, and single-plaintiff employment matters.
- Strong knowledge of California labor and employment laws.
- Excellent legal research, writing, negotiation, and oral advocacy skills.
- Experience taking and defending depositions.
- Trial experience is a plus.
