Senior Project Manager – Heavy Civil Construction

Due to continued growth and a healthy backlog of work, they are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead complex civil construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.

Position Overview

The Senior Project Manager will oversee all aspects of heavy civil construction projects, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, client relations, subcontractor coordination, and project execution. The ideal candidate will have a strong background managing excavation, grading, underground utilities, roadway, and site development projects while leading multiple teams and maintaining successful client relationships.


Responsibilities

  • Manage heavy civil construction projects from award through completion.
  • Oversee project budgets, schedules, forecasting, and cost control.
  • Coordinate field operations with superintendents, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Review plans, specifications, contracts, RFIs, submittals, and change orders.
  • Maintain strong relationships with owners, engineers, municipalities, and project stakeholders.
  • Lead project meetings and provide guidance to project management staff.
  • Ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.
  • Mentor and develop project engineers and project managers.
  • Identify and resolve project challenges while maintaining profitability and client satisfaction.


Qualifications

  • 7+ years of Project Management experience within heavy civil construction.
  • Proven experience managing excavation, mass grading, underground utilities, roadway, and site development projects.
  • Strong understanding of budgets, scheduling, contract administration, RFIs, submittals, and change management.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Experience working with public works and private infrastructure projects is preferred.
