Job Description

Senior Project Engineer – Commercial Construction

Sheridan, Wyoming | Relocation Assistance Provided

Ready for more responsibility, bigger projects, and a real path toward Project Management?

A leading commercial general contractor is looking for a Senior Project Engineer to join its team in Sheridan, Wyoming. This is an opportunity for a construction professional who has built a strong foundation in project engineering and is ready to take the next step—working closely with experienced Project Managers and Superintendents while taking on meaningful responsibility from preconstruction through closeout.

This is not a role where you’ll spend your days simply tracking paperwork. You’ll be an important part of the project team, involved in the decisions, coordination, problem-solving, and execution that keep complex commercial projects moving.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Work alongside Project Managers and Superintendents to manage commercial construction projects from start to finish
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, drawings, specifications, procurement, and project documentation
  • Coordinate with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors
  • Assist with project schedules, budgets, change orders, forecasting, and cost control
  • Track long-lead materials and help identify issues before they impact the schedule
  • Participate in owner and subcontractor meetings
  • Support buyout, subcontractor coordination, and project closeout
  • Spend time in the field understanding construction progress and helping solve real-time project challenges
  • Take increasing ownership of project responsibilities as you progress toward a Project Manager role

What We’re Looking For

  • Commercial construction experience with a general contractor
  • Previous experience as a Project Engineer, Senior Project Engineer, Assistant Project Manager, or similar role
  • Strong understanding of commercial construction processes, drawings, specifications, RFIs, and submittals
  • Ability to communicate effectively with field teams, subcontractors, design professionals, and owners
  • Organized, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple priorities
  • Someone who wants to continue growing

Why This Opportunity?

This contractor has the project pipeline, leadership, and resources to give you room to grow. You’ll work with experienced construction professionals who believe strong Project Engineers should be given real responsibility and a clear path forward.

You’ll have the opportunity to work on significant commercial projects while developing the skills needed to move into Project Management.

And if Sheridan isn’t home yet, relocation assistance is available.

Why Sheridan?

Sheridan offers something increasingly hard to find: a strong professional opportunity paired with an exceptional quality of life. Located at the base of the Bighorn Mountains, the area offers access to hiking, fishing, hunting, skiing, camping, and the outdoors—without giving up a thriving community and great local amenities.

If you’ve ever considered trading traffic, long commutes, and overcrowded cities for wide-open spaces, mountain views, and a place where you can build both a career and a life, this is worth exploring.
