Engineering Manager – Injection Molding (Scientific Molding / NPI)
Position Summary We are seeking a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead manufacturing and process engineering within a high-volume injection molding environment. This role is responsible for driving technical execution across process engineering, manufacturing engineering, automation support, and new product introduction (NPI).
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Leadership
- Lead manufacturing and process engineering teams in an injection molding environment
- Build engineering capability focused on process control, technical execution, and continuous improvement
- Establish engineering standards, best practices, and scalable systems
- Develop engineering talent and technical leadership within the organization
New Product Introduction (NPI)
- Lead injection molding product launches and transfers
- Support DFM, process feasibility, and tooling readiness
- Drive process validation, documentation, and production ramp-up
- Ensure successful transition from development to full-scale production
Injection Molding Process Engineering
- Develop and optimize scientific molding processes
- Improve process stability, capability, cycle time, and scrap reduction
- Lead DOE, process characterization, and process window development
- Troubleshoot complex molding, tooling, and production issues
Validation & Quality Systems
- Support IQ/OQ/PQ validation activities
- Ensure compliance with ISO 13485, FDA, and GMP requirements
- Partner with Quality on CAPAs, root cause analysis, and corrective actions
Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement
- Drive Lean manufacturing and operational improvement initiatives
- Support automation and manufacturing technology integration
- Improve OEE, throughput, uptime, and production efficiency
- Lead root cause and structured problem-solving efforts
Customer & Cross-Functional Support
- Participate in customer and technical reviews as needed
- Support quoting, feasibility, and new business assessments
- Collaborate across operations, quality, and program management teams
Qualifications
- 8+ years of engineering leadership experience in injection molding or regulated manufacturing
- Strong background in scientific molding and process development
- Experience with NPI, process validation (IQ/OQ/PQ), and tooling/process transfers
- Proven ability to lead engineering teams in a high-volume manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of injection molding systems, automation, and process optimization
- Experience with ISO 13485, FDA, and GMP environments preferred
- Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement experience
