A well-capitalized, growth-focused community bank is confidentially seeking a Chief Credit Officer (CCO) to join its executive team. This bank has a long-standing reputation for service, stability, and smart credit decisions. The ideal candidate will bring a strong credit mindset, clear leadership ability, and a deep understanding of commercial lending practices.
This Chief Credit Officer Will:
Lead and mentor the credit team, including credit analysts and underwriters
Evaluate loan proposals and documentation, ensuring sound credit decisions
Guide loan officers on structuring and underwriting to maintain portfolio quality
Participate in (or chair) the Loan Committee and credit approval process
Review, approve, or deny loans based on policy, risk, and borrower strength
Communicate clearly with internal staff and borrowers on credit decisions
Help improve processes, documentation, and overall credit performance
Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory guidelines, and safety standards
Ideal Candidate Profile:
10+ years in Commercial Credit or Lending
Prior experience as a Chief Credit Officer preferred
5+ years of team leadership or executive-level experience
In-depth knowledge of Commercial, Consumer, and Retail Lending
Strong credit philosophy with a growth and service mindset
Hands-on underwriting experience with sound judgment
Effective communicator and problem solver
Ability to work closely with the President/CEO and executive leadership
Additional Skills:
Knowledge of loan operations, underwriting, and closing procedures
Familiarity with loan policy development and portfolio risk management
Ability to multitask and manage time efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Strong leadership presence and a team-first mentality
