Gpac is seeking a Safety Coordinator to join one of our clients in the CPG/Pet Industry based in Westcentral Illinois.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Provide safety leadership.
- Management and execution of safety activities for the plant location.
- Enforce OSHA standards as well as company safety policies and conduct plant safety walk-throughs.
- Perform job site analyses to identify potential employee exposures to injuries and illnesses and support safe work practices/procedures.
- Conduct daily site safety inspections/audits, document findings, and implement corrective actions.
- Lead and/or assist in accident investigations, near-misses, and property damage incidents to identify root cause(s) and develop effective corrective actions.
- Help manage daily activities regarding injury management and worker’s compensation issues.
- Conduct safety training: Forklift Safety, Lock Out/Tag Out, PPE, Confined Space, etc.
- Enforce site-specific safety programs.
- Conduct facility/site inspections and complete associated reports.
- Perform pre-task planning for high-risk work tasks.
- Work closely with company management. Be able to engage and advise the location's leadership relative to the company safety program.
Preferred Skills:
- Strong oral, written, interpersonal, and presentation skills with the ability to positively influence safe behavior.
- Must have strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Be on-site while operations are ongoing. Weekend work may be required at times.
- Occasional travel to other locations may be required.
- Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision and as a team member.
- Ability to manage personnel with strong leadership abilities, as well as motivate and coach personnel to accomplish company-wide goals.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- First Aid, CPR, OSHA 10/30, or additional Board or Certified Safety Professional certifications are a plus.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior work experience in an occupational health & safety-focused role.
- Manufacturing experience is not mandatory but is a plus.
