Here at gpac we are working with a wonderful nonprofit organization that is looking for a Private Grant Writer to join their diverse team! This is an on-site position in Iowa City, IA. This position reports to the Foundations and Corporate Grants Manager and will be a part of the Development Department. This individual may additionally receive direction from the CEO, CDO, and the Director of Development.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Write, edit, and format private grant proposals, reports, and other funding deliverables
- Work independently and in collaboration with program and fundraising staff
- Ensure all written materials accurately reflect the agency’s mission, policies, and programs in a compelling manner
- Submit accurate and complete private grant applications, letters of intent, reports, and other documents as directed by the Grants Manager
- Identify new private grant funding sources
- Enter relevant information into the Development Departments donor management system as necessary
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and 2-3 years of relevant experience writing grants and/or proposals
- Strong written communication skills
- Able to write and edit clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals
- Excellent multi-tasking skills
- Knowledge of fundraising information sources and fundraising techniques and strategies
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Knowledge of donor management systems preferred
