Position Summary
We are seeking a dependable, safety focused CustomApplicator to join our agronomy team. This individual will be responsible for the safe and accurate application of crop protection products, fertilizer, and other agricultural inputs while providing outstanding service to our grower customers. The ideal candidate enjoys working outdoors, operating modern application equipment, and takes pride in helping farmers maximize crop performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply fertilizer, herbicides, insecticides, fungicides, and other crop inputs according to label requirements and company standards.
- Operate self-propelled sprayers, floaters, spreaders, tenders, and other application equipment safely and efficiently.
- Calibrate application equipment to ensure accurate rates and proper coverage.
- Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and minor repairs on equipment to minimize downtime.
- Mix and load crop protection products and fertilizers following all safety procedures and environmental regulations.
- Maintain accurate application records, field documentation, and inventory usage.
- Follow all federal, state, and local regulations regarding chemical handling, transportation, and application.
- Communicate professionally with growers regarding application schedules, field conditions, and completed work.
- Assist with receiving, loading, unloading, and organizing agronomy products during seasonal demand.
- Support warehouse and agronomy operations during non-application periods.
- Participate in safety meetings and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
- Work extended hours, weekends, and holidays as needed during spring and fall seasons.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous experience operating agricultural equipment preferred.
- Custom application or agronomy experience is preferred but training is available for qualified candidates.
- Commercial Pesticide Applicator License (or ability to obtain shortly after hire).
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with tanker endorsement preferred or ability to obtain.
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform routine equipment maintenance.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate application practices.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Ability to climb ladders, enter and exit equipment safely, and work from elevated platforms.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to sit for extended periods while operating equipment.
- Willingness to work long hours during peak agricultural seasons.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience operating Hagie, John Deere, Case IH, RoGator, Miller, or similar application equipment.
- Knowledge of crop production, fertilizers, and crop protection products.
- Experience with GPS guidance systems, precision agriculture technologies, and digital application records.
- CDL with tanker and hazmat endorsements.
- Current Commercial Applicator License.
