Maintenance Automation Technician

Northern Illinois | Food & Beverage Manufacturing

A highly automated food manufacturing facility in Northern Illinois is looking to add a strong Maintenance Automation Technician to their team. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on experience in PLC programming, controls troubleshooting, HMIs, VFDs, remote I/O, and machine vision systems inside a manufacturing environment.

This company continues to invest heavily into automation, controls, and continuous improvement initiatives while offering strong compensation, excellent benefits, and a schedule working roughly 14 days per month.

Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot and support PLC and automation systems
  • Maintain and validate control systems and backups
  • Support production uptime and continuous improvement efforts
  • Work with HMIs, VFDs, remote I/O, and machine vision systems
  • Read electrical schematics and process diagrams
  • Partner with maintenance and operations teams on troubleshooting and repairs

Qualifications:

  • Experience with Allen Bradley PLCs
  • Strong troubleshooting skills within automation/controls
  • Experience with HMIs, VFDs, Ethernet/IP, or Modbus
  • Manufacturing experience required
  • Food manufacturing experience preferred
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical/control systems up to 480V

Compensation & Benefits:

  • $32–$38/hour
  • $2/hour PM differential
  • Relocation assistance available
  • Flexible rotating schedule working roughly 14 days per month
  • 12-hour night shifts
