General Superintendent / Construction Manager – Underground Wet Utilities
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced General Superintendent / Construction Manager to oversee field operations for underground wet utility and heavy civil construction projects. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience managing crews, superintendents, equipment, and multiple projects involving water, sewer, storm drainage, and underground utilities.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily field operations across multiple underground utility projects
- Lead and manage superintendents, foremen, and field crews
- Plan manpower, equipment, materials, and resources
- Coordinate project schedules with Project Managers and field teams
- Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to plans and specifications
- Monitor production, quality, and project progress
- Coordinate with Project Managers, owners, general contractors, inspectors, and subcontractors
- Identify and resolve field issues and construction conflicts
- Review plans and specifications and provide constructability feedback
- Ensure proper installation of water, sewer, storm drainage, and related underground utilities
- Enforce company safety policies and OSHA requirements
- Assist with project planning, scheduling, and manpower forecasting
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in underground utilities or heavy civil construction
- Previous General Superintendent, Senior Superintendent, or Construction Manager experience preferred
- Strong background in water, sewer, storm drainage, and underground utility installation
- Thorough understanding of underground construction means and methods
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple crews and projects simultaneously
- Ability to read and interpret civil plans and specifications
- Strong understanding of construction safety and quality control
