Maintenance Manager in Muncie

Job Snapshot

Job Description

We are seeking a hands-on Facility Maintenance Manager to oversee the maintenance, reliability, and day-to-day operation of facility infrastructure and equipment. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys being in the field, troubleshooting problems, leading a team, and making sure the facility is safe, productive, and running efficiently.

The Facility Maintenance Manager will oversee anything that is not on wheels—including buildings, electrical systems, conveyors, HVAC, plumbing, utilities, production-support equipment, and other facility infrastructure. This is a working leadership role for someone who is comfortable rolling up their sleeves and jumping in when problems arise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, schedule, and develop the facility maintenance team.
  • Oversee preventative and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, plumbing, HVAC, and other facility systems.
  • Diagnose equipment issues and coordinate repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain and improve conveyors, motors, pumps, controls, building systems, and other fixed equipment.
  • Utilize and troubleshoot PLCs and automated control systems.
  • Manage maintenance projects, contractors, vendors, and outside service providers.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, parts inventories, and preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, efficiency, and facility operations.
  • Assist with budgeting, purchasing, and maintenance-related capital projects.
  • Ensure the facility meets company safety standards and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Lead emergency maintenance response and prioritize repairs based on safety and operational needs.
  • Train maintenance employees on safe work practices, troubleshooting, and equipment operation.
  • Work closely with operations and leadership to coordinate maintenance activities and minimize disruption to production.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance environment.

Qualifications

  • Previous maintenance leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong hands-on mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with PLCs, controls, and automated equipment.
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems, motors, conveyors, hydraulics, pneumatics, HVAC, and general facility systems.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, blueprints, and equipment manuals.
  • Strong problem-solving and diagnostic abilities.
  • Ability to lead a team while remaining comfortable working alongside them.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple maintenance issues in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in a manufacturing, agricultural, industrial, processing, or similar facility is a plus.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader—not someone who wants to manage from a desk. You should be comfortable diagnosing a problem, determining the best solution, and getting your team involved to get the facility back up and running.

If you have strong maintenance experience, enjoy troubleshooting, understand PLCs and automation, and have the leadership skills to build a dependable maintenance team, this could be an excellent opportunity.

All qualified applicants will receive consideration without regard to race, age, color, sex (including pregnancy), religion, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, military status, genetic information, or any other status protected by applicable laws or regulations.
