Industrial Structural Steel Project Manager

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Industrial Structural Steel Project Manager to oversee the planning, execution, fabrication coordination, and delivery of complex structural steel projects within industrial markets including Oil & Gas, Chemicals, and Power Distribution & Transmission. This role is responsible for managing project schedules, budgets, client communication, subcontractor coordination, and internal fabrication processes to ensure successful project completion with a strong focus on safety, quality, and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage industrial structural steel projects from award through closeout.
• Coordinate with engineering, detailing, fabrication, procurement, logistics, and field installation teams to ensure project success.
• Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, forecasts, and resource plans.
• Monitor project costs, productivity, and profitability while identifying risks and implementing corrective actions.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
• Review contract documents, specifications, RFIs, submittals, and change orders.
• Ensure compliance with applicable codes, quality standards, and safety requirements.
• Coordinate fabrication and erection sequencing to support project timelines.
• Lead project meetings and provide regular status updates to leadership and clients.
• Support estimating and preconstruction efforts when required.
• Maintain accurate project documentation and reporting throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred. High school diploma combined with additional industry experience may be considered.
• Minimum five (5) years of project management experience in fabrication, construction, or manufacturing environments.
• Strong preference for experience within the industrial structural steel industry, specifically:
  • Oil & Gas
  • Chemical Processing
  • Power Distribution & Transmission
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Proven ability to perform in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Strong understanding of general construction practices and structural steel systems.
• Knowledge of AISC Code of Standard Practice preferred.
• Excellent client-facing communication and relationship-building skills.
• Strong collaboration and teamwork capabilities across multiple departments.
• Proficiency with fabrication and construction software/tools including:
  • TEKLA PowerFab
  • TEKLA Structures
  • Bluebeam
  • SDS2
  • Trimble
  • Microsoft Excel
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Financial acumen including cost tracking, forecasting, and project reporting.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
• Detail-oriented with strong time management and follow-through.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience managing large-scale industrial steel fabrication and erection projects.
• Familiarity with fabrication shop operations and production workflows.
• Experience with EPC contractors and industrial clients.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.
