Steel Detailing Manager – Misc. Metals Fabrication

We're seeking an experienced Steel Detailing Manager to lead our detailing department for a growing Misc. Metals Fabricator in Massachusetts. This is an outstanding opportunity for a proven leader to oversee a team of detailers, improve processes, and help deliver high-profile architectural and miscellaneous metals projects.

As the Steel Detailing Manager, you'll be responsible for managing the detailing department, ensuring the accuracy and quality of shop drawings, coordinating with project management and fabrication, and driving continuous improvement throughout the detailing process. This role offers the opportunity to shape the department and make a lasting impact on a growing organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of steel detailers.

  • Manage detailing schedules to ensure projects are completed accurately and on time.

  • Review shop and erection drawings for quality, completeness, and compliance with project specifications.

  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, architects, and fabrication teams to resolve design and constructability issues.

  • Establish and maintain detailing standards, quality control procedures, and best practices.

  • Oversee RFIs, revisions, and change orders throughout the detailing process.

  • Improve departmental workflows and implement process improvements to increase efficiency.

  • Support fabrication by ensuring drawings are clear, accurate, and production-ready.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of structural steel and/or miscellaneous metals detailing experience.

  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.

  • Proficiency with Tekla Structures or SDS2 required.

  • Strong knowledge of miscellaneous metals fabrication and installation practices.

  • Ability to read and interpret structural and architectural drawings.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • $120,000 – $150,000 Base Salary (DOE)
