Commercial Estimator / Senior Estimator — Ground-Up Construction
Location: Grand Rapids, MI
Compensation: $95,000–$150,000 annually, depending on experience and position level
About the Opportunity
An established commercial general contractor is seeking an Estimator or Senior Estimator with a diverse commercial construction background.
Ground-up commercial construction estimating experience is required. This role is suited to an estimator who can evaluate multiple trades, develop reliable budgets, and collaborate with project teams throughout preconstruction.
Responsibilities
Review drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
Prepare conceptual, design-development, and detailed estimates.
Perform quantity takeoffs and analyze labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
Solicit and level subcontractor and supplier proposals.
Identify scope gaps, exclusions, and constructability concerns.
Evaluate value engineering alternatives and their cost implications.
Maintain subcontractor relationships and historical cost information.
Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and clients.
Support bid submissions and project handoff.
Senior-level candidates may also lead estimate reviews and mentor estimating staff.
Qualifications
Demonstrated estimating experience on ground-up commercial projects.
Diverse commercial project experience.
Strong understanding of construction methods and subcontractor scopes.
Experience with takeoffs, budgeting, bid leveling, and scope review.
Ability to interpret construction documents.
Proficiency with estimating software, digital takeoff tools, and Excel.
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
