Swiss Machinist

About the Company: A growing precision manufacturer specializing in tight-tolerance, high-volume turned parts. Modern shop floor, top-tier Swiss equipment, and a team that takes quality and craftsmanship seriously.

Position Summary: We are looking for a skilled Swiss Machinist to set up, program, and operate Swiss-type CNC lathes producing precision components. The right candidate thrives on holding single-digit micron tolerances and keeping machines running at peak efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

• Set up, operate, and optimize Swiss-type CNC lathes (Citizen, Star, Tsugami, Tornos, or similar)

• Program at the machine using G-code; edit and prove out new programs

• Read and interpret complex blueprints, GD&T callouts, and engineering specs

• Hold tight tolerances (±.0001"–.0005") on small-diameter turned parts

• Perform in-process inspection using micrometers, pin gauges, optical comparators, and other precision instruments

• Troubleshoot tooling wear, chatter, chip control, and surface finish issues

• Run multiple machines simultaneously when production allows

• Maintain documentation — setup sheets, offset logs, inspection records

Qualifications:

• Experience operating and setting up Swiss-type CNC lathes

• Strong G-code programming knowledge

• Excellent blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation

• Proficiency with precision measuring instruments

• Understanding of cutting tools, speeds & feeds, and material properties

• Trade school certificate, apprenticeship, or equivalent hands-on experience
