Structural Steel / Miscellaneous Metals Estimator
Job Description
We are seeking a Structural Steel / Miscellaneous Metals Estimator to join a growing and well-established steel fabrication company. This position is ideal for an estimator with 3-5+ years of experience preparing accurate take-offs and competitive bids for both structural steel and technical miscellaneous metals projects.
The successful candidate will have experience reviewing construction drawings, performing quantity take-offs, soliciting vendor and subcontractor pricing, and developing complete bid proposals for commercial and industrial projects. Experience estimating miscellaneous metals such as stairs, railings, ladders, platforms, and ornamental metals is highly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate quantity take-offs from construction drawings and specifications.
- Estimate structural steel and miscellaneous metals packages from bid through award.
- Review plans, specifications, and contract documents to identify project scope.
- Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations.
- Develop complete and competitive cost estimates and bid proposals.
- Coordinate with project management, detailing, fabrication, and operations teams during project handoff.
- Maintain estimating records, historical pricing, and bid documentation.
- Attend pre-bid meetings and communicate with clients, architects, engineers, and general contractors as needed.
Qualifications
- 3-5+ years of estimating experience in structural steel fabrication and/or miscellaneous metals.
- Strong understanding of structural steel, fabrication, erection, and technical miscellaneous metals.
- Experience performing detailed material take-offs and cost analysis.
- Ability to read and interpret structural and architectural drawings.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.
- Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office is preferred.
