Senior Retail Banking Manager

Position Summary

A well-established and growing financial institution is seeking a Senior Retail Banking Manager to provide leadership, coaching, and performance enhancement across its branch network. This highly visible role will be responsible for traveling between 16 branch locations, partnering with branch managers and frontline staff to elevate customer service, strengthen sales effectiveness, and drive overall branch performance.

The ideal candidate is an experienced retail banking leader who combines operational expertise with a passion for coaching and developing teams. This individual will serve as a mentor, trainer, and motivator, helping branch employees confidently identify customer needs and recommend appropriate banking solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Travel regularly to branch locations throughout the market to provide hands-on leadership and support.
  • Build strong working relationships with branch managers, universal bankers, tellers, and retail staff.
  • Deliver engaging training programs focused on customer service excellence, relationship building, and product knowledge.
  • Coach branch personnel on effective sales techniques, referral generation, and consultative conversations.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and exceptional client experiences.
  • Assist branch managers in developing strategies to increase deposits, product penetration, and customer retention.
  • Evaluate branch performance metrics and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Partner with executive leadership to implement retail banking initiatives and sales campaigns.
  • Ensure adherence to bank policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as a trusted resource for operational best practices and branch efficiency improvements.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive retail banking leadership experience.
  • Previous experience managing branch operations and leading banking teams.
  • Strong understanding of consumer banking products, services, and sales strategies.
  • Demonstrated success coaching and developing high-performing employees.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to inspire, motivate, and influence teams across multiple locations.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Willingness to travel frequently throughout the branch network.
