Senior Loan Officer – Agricultural Lending

A financial services organization serving the agricultural industry is seeking a Senior Loan Officer to develop lending relationships and manage a portfolio of established agricultural and commercial customers. This role combines business development, relationship management, credit expertise, and portfolio oversight. The ideal candidate understands the financing needs of agricultural producers and can build lasting relationships while maintaining strong credit quality.
Responsibilities
- Manage approximately 30–40 customer relationships within an assigned market, including complex accounts with aggregate balances above $1 million.
- Develop new business and grow existing relationships by identifying financing needs and serving as a trusted advisor.
- Lead annual renewals, including pricing discussions, term negotiations, and collection of required documentation.
- Monitor portfolio performance, customer activity, and potential credit risks.
- Partner with Credit, Operations, and other teams to support timely renewals, resolve issues, and deliver a strong customer experience.
- Maintain regular customer contact to support retention and uncover additional lending opportunities.
- Keep accurate relationship records, pipeline updates, forecasts, and customer information in the CRM.
- Provide portfolio and pipeline updates during regional meetings.
- Help customers onboard and use the organization’s online customer portal.
Qualifications
- Strong agricultural industry background and demonstrated business development experience.
- At least 3–5 years of credit and underwriting experience.
- Experience with agricultural lending, commercial credit, and loan documentation.
- Ability to grow loan volume while maintaining credit quality.
- Strong relationship-building, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated approach to managing customers, priorities, and follow-through.
- Leadership experience is a plus.
