Building Materials Company

Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated and customer-focused Inside Sales Representative to support sales growth and deliver exceptional service to contractors, builders, dealers, and commercial customers. This role is responsible for managing inbound and outbound sales activities, preparing quotes, processing orders, maintaining customer relationships, and coordinating with internal departments to ensure timely and accurate delivery of building materials products.

The ideal candidate is organized, responsive, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced wholesale distribution environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective customers

  • Respond to customer inquiries regarding products, pricing, availability, and order status

  • Prepare accurate quotes, bids, and sales orders in a timely manner

  • Process orders and coordinate with purchasing, warehouse, and logistics teams to ensure accurate fulfillment

  • Identify opportunities to upsell and cross-sell products and services

  • Conduct outbound calls to generate new business and maintain customer engagement

  • Maintain accurate customer records and sales activity within CRM and ERP systems

  • Resolve customer concerns and issues professionally and efficiently

  • Collaborate with outside sales representatives and management to achieve sales goals

  • Stay informed on product knowledge, industry trends, and competitor offerings

  • Support inventory awareness and communicate potential stock issues to customers

  • Meet or exceed established sales and customer service performance metrics

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred

  • 2+ years of inside sales, customer service, or wholesale distribution experience preferred

  • Experience in building materials, construction products, industrial supply, or related industries is a plus

  • Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills

  • Ability to multitask and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM/ERP systems

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Basic math and estimating skills preferred

  • Self-motivated with a team-oriented mindset

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of building materials and construction terminology

  • Experience reading basic construction plans or specifications

  • Familiarity with order entry, inventory systems, and pricing structures

  • Ability to identify customer needs and recommend appropriate product solutions

Work Environment

  • Office-based role within a warehouse or distribution environment

  • Frequent communication with customers, vendors, warehouse personnel, and sales staff

  • Standard business hours with occasional overtime depending on business needs
