Commercial Superintendent – Public ProjectsAbout the Opportunity

A well-established commercial construction contractor is seeking an experienced Superintendent to lead field operations on public sector projects, including municipal, education, civic, and government work.

This role is responsible for managing all on-site construction activities while ensuring strict adherence to safety, schedule, quality, and public agency requirements. The Superintendent will play a key role in coordinating subcontractors, managing field execution, and maintaining strong communication with all project stakeholders.

This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who understands public work, thrives in structured environments, and can successfully manage multiple layers of oversight including owners, inspectors, architects, and agencies.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead daily field operations on public sector construction projects
• Coordinate subcontractors, manpower, materials, and equipment
• Maintain and drive project schedules and sequencing
• Ensure compliance with public agency specifications and requirements
• Conduct site meetings, inspections, and progress reporting
• Enforce jobsite safety and quality standards
• Collaborate with Project Managers, owners, architects, and agencies
• Identify and resolve field issues proactively
• Ensure smooth project execution from start through closeout

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Superintendent experience in commercial construction
• Experience with public sector projects strongly preferred
• Strong knowledge of construction sequencing, safety, and quality control
• Ability to manage multiple subcontractors and complex jobsite operations
• Strong communication and leadership skills with diverse stakeholders
• Proficient with construction documentation and scheduling tools
• Valid driver’s license required
