Assistant Project Manager / Project Engineer – Infrastructure Construction
Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated Assistant Project Manager / Project Engineer to support the execution of major infrastructure restoration and repair projects throughout the region. This role is ideal for someone looking to accelerate their construction career while working on large, complex projects. The ideal candidate will have 1–5 years of experience in civil or commercial construction and a desire to grow into a Project Manager role.
This position requires regional travel up to 60% of the time, with assignments typically lasting up to two weeks at a time. The work environment includes both office and active construction project sites.
Responsibilities
- Support Project Managers with the planning and execution of infrastructure restoration and repair projects.
- Coordinate with field personnel, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients.
- Track project schedules, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation.
- Assist with cost tracking, procurement, and material deliveries.
- Participate in project meetings and provide progress updates.
- Perform quantity tracking, field reporting, and document control.
- Help ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.
- Work closely with Superintendents and field teams to resolve day-to-day project challenges.
Qualifications
- 1–5 years of experience as a Project Engineer, Field Engineer, or Assistant Project Manager.
- Experience with civil construction, heavy civil, infrastructure, or commercial construction projects.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with Procore, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, or similar construction software is a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Ability to travel up to 60% regionally.
- Ability to work variable shifts, nights, and weekends when necessary.
