Job Title: Agronomy Operations Specialist
Position Summary
The Agronomy Operations Specialist plays a key role in the daily operations of the agronomy division by ensuring the safe, efficient, and accurate handling of crop inputs and customer orders. This individual is responsible for receiving, storing, blending, loading, delivering, and applying fertilizer and crop protection products while maintaining equipment, facilities, and a strong commitment to customer service. This position works closely with the agronomy sales team and operations staff to support local growers and achieve cooperative objectives.
Essential Responsibilities
- Receive, unload, and accurately inventory fertilizer, crop protection products, seed, and other agronomy inputs.
- Blend, mix, and load dry and liquid fertilizer according to customer specifications.
- Operate tender trucks, forklifts, loaders, and other agronomy equipment safely and efficiently.
- Perform custom application of fertilizer and crop protection products when licensed and assigned.
- Deliver agronomy products to customers in a timely and professional manner.
- Assist with inventory management, including cycle counts and maintaining accurate records.
- Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on equipment, vehicles, and facilities.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, EPA, state, and cooperative safety policies and regulations.
- Work with agronomy sales staff to ensure excellent customer service and timely product delivery.
- Assist with grain, energy, or other cooperative operations as needed during seasonal demands.
- Participate in safety meetings and ongoing training programs.
- Work extended hours, weekends, and holidays during peak planting and harvest seasons.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; agriculture-related education is preferred.
- Previous agronomy, farming, agricultural retail, or equipment operation experience preferred.
- Ability to safely operate agricultural equipment and machinery.
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform basic maintenance and repairs.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver's license required; CDL or ability to obtain one is preferred.
- Commercial Applicator License or the ability to obtain required certifications is preferred.
