GPAC is working with a company in the agricultural commodity and ingredient industry to identify an experienced Pet Food Ingredient Buyer/Trader for a fully remote opportunity.
The company is looking for someone with an established network of suppliers and industry relationships, primarily throughout the Midwest, who can source and purchase ingredients used in dog food and develop additional sourcing opportunities.
Responsibilities
Source, purchase, and merchandise ingredients used in pet food.
Maintain and develop relationships with growers, producers, processors, suppliers, and other ingredient sources.
Negotiate commodity and ingredient pricing, purchase agreements, and contracts.
Monitor agricultural commodity markets, ingredient availability, pricing, quality, and specifications.
Coordinate transportation, logistics, and delivery of physical commodities.
Manage multiple purchases and supplier relationships while identifying opportunities to increase sourcing volume.
Develop new supplier relationships and expand existing business opportunities.
Qualifications
Experience purchasing, buying, or trading ingredients used in pet food.
Established supplier network and industry relationships, preferably throughout the Midwest.
Experience negotiating commodity or ingredient pricing and contracts.
Knowledge of agricultural markets, ingredient quality, specifications, and availability.
Experience coordinating transportation and delivery of physical commodities.
Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
Ability to manage multiple supplier relationships and sourcing opportunities independently.
Compensation and Work Arrangement
Fully remote position.
Base salary of $110,000–$165,000, depending on experience.
Additional commission compensation.
This opportunity is best suited for a buyer or trader who can bring established supplier relationships and use their industry network to source ingredients, build volume, and develop new business opportunities.
