Commercial Estimator

About the Company

Our client is a well-established General Contractor that has been in business since 1994 and has built a strong reputation throughout New Jersey for delivering quality commercial construction projects. The company has historically focused on public sector work and is now strategically expanding further into private commercial projects, creating an exciting opportunity for an estimator who wants to help drive growth and diversify the project portfolio.

Project Types

This role offers exposure to a wide variety of commercial projects, including:

• Corporate facilities
• Retail establishments
• Schools and educational facilities
• Hospitals and healthcare projects
• Warehouses and industrial facilities
• Additions, alterations, and renovations

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare conceptual, budgetary, and hard-bid estimates
• Review plans, specifications, and bid documents
• Perform quantity takeoffs and pricing analysis
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier proposals
• Develop bid packages and scopes of work
• Identify value-engineering opportunities
• Track project costs and maintain estimating databases
• Collaborate with project managers and leadership on project pursuits
• Assist in expanding the company's private-sector project portfolio

Qualifications

• 3+ years of commercial estimating experience with a General Contractor
• Experience with public work bidding is highly preferred
• Strong understanding of commercial construction methods and pricing
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
• Proficiency with estimating software, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Excel
• Strong communication and organizational skills
