Associate Attorney – Transportation Defense (5+ Years)

A highly respected regional law firm is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to join its growing Transportation Defense practice in New York City. This is an outstanding opportunity for an attorney with 5+ years of civil litigation experience who is ready to manage sophisticated defense matters, work closely with experienced litigators, and continue building a successful career in a collaborative environment.

The ideal candidate will have experience handling transportation, trucking, construction, or other complex tort litigation matters and be comfortable managing cases from inception through resolution.

The successful candidate will work on a broad range of defense litigation matters, including:

  • Transportation Defense
  • Trucking & Commercial Vehicle Litigation

Responsibilities

  • Independently manage a litigation caseload from inception through resolution.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery responses.
  • Take and defend depositions.
  • Prepare and argue dispositive motions.
  • Handle mediations, arbitrations, hearings, and trial preparation.
  • Develop litigation strategy in collaboration with partners and senior attorneys.
  • Prepare comprehensive status reports for insurance carriers and clients.
  • Conduct legal research and draft memoranda supporting case strategy.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients, experts, opposing counsel, and the courts.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Active admission to the New York State Bar.
  • 5+ years of civil litigation experience, preferably in transportation defense, trucking litigation, construction litigation, insurance defense, or related tort litigation.
  • Experience managing cases independently from inception through resolution.
  • Strong deposition, motion practice, and discovery experience.
  • Prior mediation and arbitration experience preferred.
  • Excellent legal writing, research, analytical, and advocacy skills.
  • Outstanding organizational and client communication abilities.
