Senior Project Manager – Structural Steel

A growing structural steel fabricator in Columbus, OH is seeking a high-performing Senior Project Manager to lead and execute structural steel projects from award through closeout. This role is ideal for a results-driven professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can effectively manage the coordination between detailing, fabrication, and field erection.

As a Senior Project Manager, you will take ownership of projects from kickoff to completion, driving schedule, cost, and execution while ensuring alignment across all phases of the project lifecycle. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining project profitability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead structural steel projects from award through closeout with full P&L accountability
  • Drive project schedules and ensure on-time delivery
  • Manage submittals, shop drawings, RFIs, and change orders
  • Oversee procurement, fabrication schedules, and material coordination
  • Direct erection sequencing, field logistics, and jobsite execution
  • Travel to project sites as needed to support field teams and maintain performance
  • Lead coordination meetings with general contractors, owners, and trade partners
  • Monitor costs, labor productivity, and overall project profitability
  • Ensure alignment between detailing, fabrication, and field operations

 

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of structural steel project management experience
  • Proven success delivering structural steel projects of varying scale
  • Ability to perform in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed
  • Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam, and standard project management tools
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills

Technical / AISC Expectations

  • Working knowledge of AISC standards and Code of Standard Practice
  • Strong understanding of fabrication workflows and connection coordination
  • Ability to interpret structural drawings and project specifications
  • Familiarity with bolting, welding, and QA/QC requirements
  • Ability to drive coordination across detailing, shop, and field operations

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary: $100,000 – $120,000 (DOE) + Bonus
