Industrial Engineer

Description
We are seeking an Industrial Engineer to provide support for the successful launch of new automotive programs and drive improvements throughout a high-volume manufacturing facility. The Industrial Engineer will plan, direct, and coordinate internal and external processes while focusing on material flow, workforce utilization, plant layout, and overall operational efficiency.
Essential Duties
- Develop, evaluate, and improve internal and external material flow methods.
- Analyze and plan workforce requirements, utilization, floor space, and material flow.
- Design equipment layouts and operator workspaces.
- Work with part suppliers and vendors to engineer and develop material handling equipment, storage solutions, and packaging.
- Evaluate and test material handling solutions to ensure they meet specifications and quality standards.
- Conduct time studies and utilize simulation techniques to analyze material flow throughout the plant.
- Calculate operator staffing requirements based on production needs and time study analysis.
- Calculate fleet requirements and manage returnable packaging.
- Partner with management and plant personnel to improve material processes and overall plant efficiency.
- Maintain and continually update PFEP (Plan for Every Part) based on engineering changes and material planning requirements.
- Support new program launches, process improvements, and other engineering initiatives.
- Perform additional projects and assignments as directed by management.
Education, Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or another Engineering discipline required.
- 1–3 years of relevant experience preferred.
- Experience with continuous improvement and Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Experience with plant capacity planning and time study analysis.
- Experience with floor space analysis and material planning.
- Experience working with suppliers and fabricators on the engineering and design of material handling equipment.
- Experience designing or engineering racking and/or dunnage (returnable packaging) based on part specifications and OEM standards.
- Automotive parts assembly experience preferred, particularly modular component systems and JIT/JIS manufacturing.
- Knowledge of warehouse management principles, including FIFO and Kanban systems.
- Strong technical understanding of material flow and process optimization.
- Knowledge of ergonomics and safety standards within an automotive manufacturing environment preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with management, customers, suppliers, and plant personnel.
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD required.
- SAP experience preferred.
