A well-established, family-owned agricultural organization is seeking a Director of Feed & Grain to lead the operations of an integrated feed mill and grain facility located on the same site. This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and profitable operations while driving continuous improvement across both businesses.
The ideal candidate combines strong operational leadership with experience in feed manufacturing, grain handling, procurement, logistics, and facility maintenance. Key Responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership for daily operations of the feed mill and grain facility.
- Ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operations while maintaining high standards for quality and customer service.
- Lead and develop facility personnel, fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee preventative maintenance programs and capital improvement initiatives to maximize equipment reliability and operational uptime.
- Manage grain procurement, inventory, and merchandising activities to support business objectives.
- Direct logistics for inbound grain, outbound feed, and transportation coordination.
- Develop and manage operating budgets, monitor key performance indicators, and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and profitability.
- Build strong relationships with producers, suppliers, transportation partners, and other stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field preferred.
- Leadership experience in feed manufacturing, grain operations, or a similar agricultural processing environment.
- Strong knowledge of feed mill operations, grain handling systems, procurement, inventory management, and logistics.
- Experience managing maintenance programs and capital projects.
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage budgets, and improve operational performance.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
