Position: Safety Specialist (Trainer / Consultant Role)
Location: Sioux Falls, SD (Limited East River Travel)
Salary: $75,000 – $110,000 DOE
A respected construction-focused organization is hiring a Safety Specialist to provide onsite safety training and serve as a trusted resource for multiple small-to-mid-sized general contractors across the region. This is a unique hybrid role combining field training and consulting—ideal for someone who thrives on variety, interaction, and making a real impact in the industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead safety trainings (OSHA 10/30, fall protection, trenching, first aid, etc.)
Visit active jobsites to offer guidance, spot-check compliance, and support crews
Help companies improve their safety programs and navigate OSHA/state requirements
Assist with safety plans, audits, documentation, and corrective strategies
Occasional, limited East River travel for scheduled trainings (no overnights)
Ideal Background:
Previous experience as a Safety Manager, Safety Director, Safety Coordinator, or Field Superintendent with heavy safety involvement
Solid knowledge of OSHA standards and general construction practices
Strong communication and leadership skills—you can command a training room and earn respect in the field
OSHA 30, CPR/First Aid certified preferred
Comfortable balancing training, field visits, and documentation
