Job Title: Sales Manager / Assistant General Manager Department: Hotel Operations Reports To: General Manager

Position Summary

 This position provides leadership in sales, guest relations, operational excellence, and financial performance to ensure exceptional guest experiences and achievement of organizational goals.

The Sales Manager/Assistant General Manager serves as a key member of the leadership team by developing new business opportunities, maintaining client relationships, supporting departmental operations, and ensuring compliance with company standards and policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Sales & Business Development

  • Develop and execute strategic sales plans to achieve revenue and occupancy goals.
  • Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities through prospecting, networking, and outside sales calls.
  • Build and maintain relationships with corporate clients, travel agencies, event planners, tourism organizations, and other business partners.
  • Prepare sales proposals, contracts, and presentations for prospective clients.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer needs to identify opportunities for business growth.
  • Analyze sales reports and performance metrics to develop strategies that improve revenue and profitability.
  • Represent the lodge at community events, trade shows, networking opportunities, and industry functions as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with marketing initiatives to promote the lodge and increase brand awareness.
  • Assist the General Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the lodge, including Front Desk, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, and Maintenance.
  • Promote a culture of exceptional guest service and operational excellence.
  • Support department managers by providing leadership, coaching, and guidance to achieve departmental goals.
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, and performance management of employees as assigned.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, brand standards, safety procedures, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Monitor service standards and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the guest experience.
  • Respond to guest concerns, complaints, and service recovery situations in a timely and professional manner.
  • Serve as Manager on Duty when assigned and make operational decisions in the absence of the General Manager.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in hospitality sales, hotel management, or a related leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of hotel operations, guest service standards, revenue management, and hospitality industry best practices.
  • Excellent leadership, coaching, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships with guests, clients, and team members.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and hotel property management and sales software.
  • Professional certifications in hospitality or sales management are preferred but not required.

Working Conditions

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Occasional bending, reaching, lifting, and carrying up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and varied schedules based on business needs.
  • Frequent use of computers, telephones, and standard office equipment.
  • Occasional travel for sales calls, networking events, trade shows, or community functions.

    • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the General Manager.
