Civil Estimator
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Civil Estimator to join our team.
The ideal candidate has hands-on understanding of civil construction and the ability to translate plans and specs into detailed estimates.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare detailed estimates for curb, gutter, sidewalks, paving, earthwork, drainage, and other sitework
Conduct quantity takeoffs from plans, specifications, and civil drawings
Review designs and identify scope gaps, constructability issues, and risk areas
Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing
Develop cost projections, profit margins, and bid recommendations
Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, and design teams
Maintain estimating databases, historical cost data, and unit pricing
Support preconstruction and bidding efforts with clear, accurate documentation
Qualifications
3+ years of civil/site construction estimating experience (curb, gutter, paving, utilities, earthwork)
Strong ability to read civil, grading, and structural plans
Proficient with estimating software (PlanSwift, Bluebeam, Excel, or similar)
Detail-oriented, analytical, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Preferred Experience
Estimating municipal, commercial, or mixed-use site work projects
Experience with large-scale developments or DOT projects
Knowledge of local unit pricing, subcontractor rates, and site-specific construction methods
